Sarah Hill
Principal Viola (since 2026)
Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
Born in London, Sarah has performed all over the world as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician. Her love of chamber music was ignited as a teenager, when she was a member of Pro Corda, the National School for Young Chamber Music Players.
She studied with Trevor Williams and Gillian Findlay, and then moved to Manchester to study with Richard Ireland at the Royal Northern College of Music. Whilst at the RNCM Sarah began playing the viola as well as the violin, and enjoys playing both instruments equally.
Sarah has played with many orchestras, including the BBC Philharmonic, Hallé, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera and the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra.
In 2002 Sarah was appointed Principal Viola of the Orquestra do Algarve. During her time there she played several concertos with the orchestra, and regularly performed chamber music.
In 2005 Sarah moved to Liverpool to join the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra viola section, and in 2026 she became Principal Viola of the orchestra.
In 2010 Sarah co-founded the Liverpool String Quartet, with whom she has given regular performances throughout Europe.
