The Liverpool String Quartet brought beauty and skill to this piece, which demanded some incredible, technical solos. It is a wonder that the Liverpool String Quartet, with such a talent throughout the group, is not better known in the city and beyond, as this piece really proved that Liverpool boasts genius in the orchestra’s string section.
This is different, the music speaks to me, it is rapturous and I am melting into my seat. The rest of the musicians join the first violin and Sarah Hill 2nd violin, Daniel Sanxis,(viola) and Nick Byrne on cello, the quartet is in flight. The setting is divine, the sound sublime – this is like angel wings fluttering past my ears. Yet amidst this joyous rapture I feel incensed by what could be conceived as a division of musical class
Tonight the music has washed over me and my friend, she was mesmerised. It was triumphant.
